Are you a mother who is seeking more?
Daydreaming about the times before kids?
Feeling like you have to choose?
You are a mother. And you are also a lot of other things.
You're creative. You're ambitious. You're someone who has interests, ideas, and desires that have nothing to do with your kids. You might be an entrepreneur, an artist, a woman with something she's been wanting to build or learn or return to for years now.
And somehow, in the middle of all of it, that part of you keeps getting pushed to the back.
Not because you're not capable. Not because you don't want it. But because no one gave you the space, dedicated time, or a room that was specifically yours for the woman you’re still becoming.
You have a practice, a project, a passion that lives in the back of your mind on the school run. So you don't need another container telling you who to be. You need protected time, aligned peers, and a space that takes your creative life as seriously as you do.
This is what the mom residency is for.
THE OFFERING
What is the Mom Residency?
The Mom Residency is a biweekly virtual container for BIPOC mothers who want to reclaim something.
This could be a creative practice, a passion, a part of yourself you had to put or push down. You might come in with a clear project. You might come in not knowing yet. Both are welcome. Exploration is part of it.
It is part structured learning, part creative co-working, part peer community held by women who are already doing the work of living full lives and ready to do it together.
We meet twice a month:
Session 1 — Guided: a themed teaching, reflection, and group conversation to spark, ground, and inspire you
Session 2 — Co-working: dedicated focus time for your project or passion, with peer support and light group coaching
Each circle runs for 4 months and closes with a celebration of what every woman built, reclaimed, or discovered.
This is for you if:
✦ You're a BIPOC mother with a whole life going on, & you're ready to protect the parts of your womanhood that motherhood has been overshadowing.
✦ You're creative, entrepreneurial, or high-achieving & you've been quietly wondering when it's going to be your turn
✦ You're in survival mode and not yet ready to focus on yourself. There's no shame in that, but this space requires readiness
✦ You've been daydreaming about things you used to do, things you never got to do, or things you keep almost starting
✦ You're not yet ready to take ownership of your own reclamation or you want to be told who to be. We're here to help you remember who you already are.
✦ You're tired of feeling like you have to choose between being a good mother and being fully yourself
✦ You're not ready to show up with humility, honesty, and genuine presence for the women around you
✦ You're looking for parenting advice, mom hacks, or a space centered on your children
✦ You've been judged (or judged yourself) for wanting things that have nothing to do with your kids
✦ You're not looking for a surface level mom group. You're looking for peers in the same stage of personal exploration & expression
This is not for you if:
OUR APPROACH
Most spaces for mothers center your role. We center you as a woman first.
The Mom Residency is built on three things working together as a felt experience in every gathering.
01
Reclamation + Creativity
This isn't personal development wrapped in productivity language. It's a dedicated, protected space for the parts of you that have been quietly waiting. She’s creative, curious, and a woman who had a whole life before becoming a mother and still does. We give that part of you a room of her own.
02
Real Community, Not Performance
There is something that happens when women show up for themselves in the same room, at the same time, with the same intention.
This residency is built on the belief that real community is a practice. Giving and receiving. Being witnessed in your magic and witnessing it in others. Showing up for yourself so consistently that the women around you feel permission to do the same.
You are in the driver's seat here with your reclamation, your pace, your vision. I hold the container, bring the themes, and create the conditions. But what gets built happens between the women in the room. That is where the real beauty lives.
03
Ancestral Rootedness
Everything in IyaJumi is rooted in the belief that who you are goes deeper than what you do, what role you hold, or what season you're in. We bring that into the residency not as a concept, but as a felt experience.
You did not arrive at motherhood alone. You arrived carrying generations of the women who came before you and their wisdom, their wounds, their ways of moving through the world. The way you love, create, nurture, and express yourself is not separate from that lineage. It is an expression of it.
✦ Have a reclamation project, practice, or passion you've actually made time for, not just thought about
✦ Feel more grounded in your identity as a woman, not just your role as a mother
✦ Know what it feels like to consistently protect time for yourself and have proof that you can do it
✦ Feel the difference between performing womanhood and actually embodying it
✦ Have a circle of women who know you, witness you, and will keep you honest in your reclamation journey
✦ Show up in your motherhood with more presence, more ease, and more of being yourself
✦ Walk away knowing that choosing yourself is not selfish. It's the most ancestrally aligned thing you can do

I built this because I needed it.
I'm Khala (KAY-la)Toriola: mother of two (soon to be three), Nigerian and African American household, eldest daughter, high achiever, and the woman who somehow never fully lost herself in the role of motherhood, but spent a long time wondering why she couldn't find her people.
I have a Master's in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. A decade of organizational leadership work. I am co-founder and COO of the Eldest Daughters Collective, a strategic organizational consultant and financial advisor for my husband's nonprofit Spora Network, a certified ancestral healing coach, reiki master, and full-spectrum doula. Founder of Rooted in Glow, my K-pop inspired coaching and embodiment practice. An evolving entrepreneur building IyaJumi from the ground up.
And I am doing all of this while growing and raising babies.
And still, every time I walked into a mom space, I left feeling like something was missing.
Not because I needed more support. Because I needed peers. Women who were creative, resourced, ambitious, and rooted. Women who loved their kids and had no intention of making that their whole personality. Women who understood that motherhood is one expression of who you are, not the erasure of everything else.
Therapy helped me understand my patterns. Ancestral healing helped me trace my roots. But it was building something that didn't exist that helped me recognize and reclaim my wholeness.
IyaJumi is that something. And the Mom Residency is the space I've been desiring since becoming a mother.
I'm living a blend of cultures, lineages, and ways of knowing that shape everything I create. I believe in color over beige, depth over performance, and the radical idea that you can be a deeply present mother and a fully expressed woman at the same time.
I'm here to be a living example of what it looks like to just be yourself fully, unapologetically, in all your dimensions. To give you permission, through my own embodiment, to take up that same space.

FAQs
-
No. If you've been in mom groups and left feeling like something was missing, you already know why you're here.
This is a peer container for BIPOC mothers who are creative, resourced, and ready to reclaim parts of themselves that have been quietly overshadowed by motherhood. We don't talk about sleep schedules, feeding choices, or parenting wins and fails. We talk about you.
-
No. Some women arrive with a clear project or passion. Some arrive knowing only that something is missing. Both are welcome. Part of the residency is the discovery itself. We hold space for that too.
-
Replays will be available after every session so you never fall behind. That being said, this residency is built on live presence and real co-creation. The magic happens in the room, between the women, in real time.
We highly encourage you to protect this time for yourself. That might look like asking your partner, a parent, or a friend to watch your kids. If your kids are older, letting them know this is your time and you'll check in when you're done. And if life happens and your kids are in the background, come anyway!
You are welcome as you are. What we ask is that you show up with genuine intention, not that you show up perfectly.
-
The private WhatsApp group is for connection, insight sharing, personalized feedback, and ongoing support between our live sessions. It's a space to share what you're working on, ask for input, celebrate wins, and stay connected to the women in your circle.
-
There will be 12 people maximum to ensure space for depth, intimacy, and connection. This helps us honor the energy, intention, and readiness of every woman in the residency.
-
Yes. This space is built through an application and vetting process, not to be exclusive, but because the quality of the container depends on the readiness and energy of every woman in it.
-
The residency meets every other Thursday from 1–2pm ET for 4 months — 8 sessions total, held on Zoom. We also open with a dedicated kickoff session before the first official session. It’s a chance to meet the other moms in your residency, set intentions, and settle into the container together before the work begins. Replays are available after every session.
“When you allow yourself to fully embody your womanhood, motherhood becomes an expression that flows naturally from who you are. That is the feminine energy I live by, and the space I hold for you.”
