Womanhood ⟡ Motherhood ⟡ Expression ⟡
Are you a mother who is seeking more?
Daydreaming about the times before kids?
Feeling like you have to choose?
You are a mother. And you are also a lot of other things.
You're creative. You're ambitious. You're someone who has interests, ideas, and desires that have nothing to do with your kids. You might be an entrepreneur, a creative, or a high-achieving woman with something she's been wanting to indulge in or learn or return to for years now.
And you already know how you want to feel.
Joyful. Easeful. Aligned. Rested. Alive in your body. Like yourself again.
You just keep putting it last…
Not because you don't deserve it. Not because you don't want it. But because somewhere along the way, your joy became a luxury instead of a non-negotiable. Your pleasure became something you had to earn. Your rest became something you'd get to eventually.
The Mom Residency is an invitation to stop waiting.
What is the Mom Residency?
THE OFFERING
The Mom Residency is a 6-week virtual container for BIPOC mothers who are ready to reclaim how they want to feel and build a life that actually reflects it.
This is not about simply finding a new hobby or checking something off a list. It is about returning to yourself. Turning inward. Asking the real questions. And letting your desire for joy, ease, and alignment be greater than the challenges that come with actually choosing it.
Because there will be challenges…
The logistics: finding childcare, protecting your time, building a joy budget, actually booking the thing.
The energetics: releasing the guilt, feeling safe enough to fully disconnect, giving yourself permission to indulge without justifying it to anyone.
We do both in here.
This is for you if:
✦ You're a BIPOC mother who is ready to hold her own joy as a non-negotiable
✦ You know how you want to feel but keep putting everyone else first
✦ You've been waiting for permission to fully rest, indulge, and disconnect…this is it!
✦ You're tired of feeling like you have to choose between being a good mother and being fully yourself
✦ You've been judged (or judged yourself) for wanting things that have nothing to do with your kids
✦ You're not looking for a surface level mom group. You're looking for peers in the same stage of personal exploration & expression
This is not for you if:
✦ You're looking for parenting advice, mom hacks, or a space centered on your children
✦ You're in survival mode and not yet ready to focus on yourself. There's no shame in that, but this space requires readiness
✦ You're not yet ready to take ownership of your own reclamation or you want to be told who to be. We're here to help you remember who you already are.
✦ You're not ready to get honest about what it's actually costing you to keep living the opposite
OUR APPROACH
Most spaces for mothers center your role. We center you as a woman first.
The Mom Residency moves through a intentional 6-week arc with each week building on the last, taking you from how do I want to feel all the way to I am actually living it. Every session is a felt experience, not just a conversation.
How our 6 weeks will flow…
01
How Do You Want to Feel?
We start with the most important question. Not what do you want to do or achieve, but how do you want to feel? Joy. Pleasure. Ease. Alignment. Rejuvenation. We name it, we sit with it, and we let it become the compass for everything that follows.
02
Making It a
Non-Negotiable
What would it look like to hold joy and pleasure as core values — not rewards, not luxuries, not things you get to eventually? This week we get honest about how we've been treating our own wellbeing and what it would take to truly prioritize it.
03
The Honest Question
Is living the opposite sustainable? We look at what it actually costs you (physically, emotionally, creatively) to keep deprioritizing yourself. Not from a place of guilt but from a place of clarity. Let the desire be greater than the fear.
04
The Logistics of Joy
Choosing yourself requires real planning. This week is about the practical: asking your partner, hiring a sitter, building a joy budget, clearing your schedule, booking the facial, buying the concert ticket. We make it real and we make it doable.
05
The Energetics
of Joy
The logistics are one thing. Feeling safe enough to actually enjoy them is another. This week, we work through the guilt, the discomfort, the conditioning that says you should be doing something more productive. Permission to fully disconnect. Permission to indulge. Permission to just be.
06
Living It
This is the embodiment week. Joy and pleasure and ease are not destinations; they are practices. We close by anchoring what you've built, celebrating what you've reclaimed, and making a commitment to keep choosing yourself after the residency ends.
By the end of 6 weeks, you’ll:
✦ Have a reclamation project, practice, or passion you've actually made time for, not just thought about
✦ Feel more grounded in your identity as a woman, not just your role as a mother
✦ Know what it feels like to consistently protect time for yourself and have proof that you can do it
✦ Feel the difference between performing joy and actually embodying it
✦ Have a circle of women who know you, witness you, and will keep you honest in your reclamation journey
✦ Show up in your motherhood with more presence, more ease, and more of being yourself
✦ Walk away knowing that choosing yourself is not selfish. It's the most ancestrally aligned thing you can do

MEET KHALA
I built this because I needed it.
I'm Khala (KAY-la)Toriola: mother of two (soon to be three), Nigerian and African American household, eldest daughter, high achiever, and the woman who somehow never fully lost herself in the role of motherhood, but spent a long time wondering why she couldn't find her people.
I have a Master's in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. A decade of organizational leadership work. I am co-founder and COO of the Eldest Daughters Collective, a strategic organizational consultant and financial advisor for my husband's nonprofit Spora Network, a certified ancestral healing coach, reiki master, and full-spectrum doula. Founder of Rooted in Glow, my K-pop inspired coaching and embodiment practice. An evolving entrepreneur building IyaJumi from the ground up.
And I am doing all of this while growing and raising babies.
And still, every time I walked into a mom space, I left feeling like something was missing.
Not because I needed more support. Because I needed peers. Women who were creative, resourced, ambitious, and rooted. Women who loved their kids and had no intention of making that their whole personality. Women who understood that motherhood is one expression of who you are, not the erasure of everything else.
Therapy helped me understand my patterns. Ancestral healing helped me trace my roots. But it was building something that didn't exist that helped me recognize and reclaim my wholeness.
IyaJumi is that something. And the Mom Residency is the space I've been desiring since becoming a mother.
I'm living a blend of cultures, lineages, and ways of knowing that shape everything I create. I believe in color over beige, depth over performance, and the radical idea that you can be a deeply present mother and a fully expressed woman at the same time.
I'm here to be a living example of what it looks like to just be yourself fully, unapologetically, in all your dimensions. To give you permission, through my own embodiment, to take up that same space.
FAQs
-
No. If you've been in mom groups and left feeling like something was missing, you already know why you're here.
This is a peer container for BIPOC mothers who are creative, resourced, and ready to reclaim parts of themselves that have been quietly overshadowed by motherhood. We don't talk about sleep schedules, feeding choices, or parenting wins and fails. We talk about you.
-
No. Some women arrive with a clear project or passion. Some arrive knowing only that something is missing. Both are welcome. Part of the residency is the discovery itself. We hold space for that too.
-
Replays will be available after every session so you never fall behind. That being said, this residency is built on live presence and real co-creation. The magic happens in the room, between the women, in real time.
We highly encourage you to protect this time for yourself. That might look like asking your partner, a parent, or a friend to watch your kids. If your kids are older, letting them know this is your time and you'll check in when you're done. And if life happens and your kids are in the background, come anyway!
You are welcome as you are. What we ask is that you show up with genuine intention, not that you show up perfectly.
-
The private WhatsApp group is for connection, insight sharing, personalized feedback, and ongoing support between our live sessions. It's a space to share what you're working on, ask for input, celebrate wins, and stay connected to the women in your circle.
-
There will be 12 people maximum to ensure space for depth, intimacy, and connection. This helps us honor the energy, intention, and readiness of every woman in the residency.
-
Yes. This space is built through an application and vetting process, not to be exclusive, but because the quality of the container depends on the readiness and energy of every woman in it.
-
The residency runs for 6 weeks with one live session per week, each 1 hour, held on Zoom every Thursday at 1pm ET. You'll also have access to 2 open community sessions throughout the 6 weeks, which will be an unstructured space for connection, co-creating, and light coaching outside of the regular curriculum.
Replays are available after every session.
“When you allow yourself to fully embody your womanhood, motherhood becomes an expression that flows naturally from who you are. That is the feminine energy I live by, and the space I hold for you.”
